MessyDocs

About MessyDocs

MessyDocs is a small focused team building OCR for the documents that defeat everyone else: handwritten chits, faded thermal receipts, and invoices printed in scripts the bundled tools quietly skip. We read the messy bill and hand you the vendor, the tax numbers and the line items as a clean row, ready for Tally, Excel or QuickBooks.

Why we built it

The honest version: we kept watching accountants and small-business owners retype bills by hand. The general-purpose OCR tools either gave up on regional script and handwriting, or read the text and stopped there, leaving you to re-sort a wall of characters into the tax fields you actually book. The well-funded Western document-AI APIs are priced per page in dollars, which is wrong for a solo practice no matter how good the model is.

So we built the thing we wanted: an OCR that expects a messy bill, knows what a vendor tax ID and a tax-rate split look like, and is priced for working professionals. We are not a large company and we do not pretend to be one. We are a focused team shipping one tool well.

What we will and will not claim

We publish our accuracy numbers and we say exactly which documents we measured them on. Where we have not run a test, we do not print a number. You can read the full method on our how we test page, and see the results in the accuracy benchmark. If a result of yours contradicts ours, tell us and we will re-test.
